Overview

Digital Marketing Glossary is an educational reference. You can browse definitions without creating an account. You only submit personal information when you choose to contact us or subscribe to the newsletter. This policy explains the limited information that may be handled through normal website operation.

Information we handle

Information you provide

If you subscribe to the newsletter, we receive the email address you enter. If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, selected topic, optional page address, and message. Please do not send passwords, customer lists, advertising account exports, or other sensitive information.

Technical information

Our hosting provider may create standard server logs when a page is requested. These logs may include an IP address, browser type, requested page, referring page, and request time. Such information is generally used to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the website.

We also maintain an aggregate lifetime count and calendar-month count for each glossary definition. These counters are associated with the term, not with an IP address, account, browser identifier, or individual visitor.

The site does not require user accounts. We use Google Analytics for aggregate usage measurement. Google AdSense advertising is not currently enabled; this policy explains the service before any future activation.

Information stored in your browser

The website uses your browser’s local storage to remember:

  • Your selected light or dark theme
  • Terms you choose to save
  • A short list of recently viewed definitions

This saved-term and theme information remains on your device and is not transmitted to our database. You can remove it by clearing this site’s browser data. Analytics and advertising providers may separately use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies as described below.

Newsletter subscriptions

When you subscribe, we normalize and store your email address in a protected server-side text file. The file is outside the site’s public routes and direct web access to the storage directory is denied. We use the address only for Digital Marketing Glossary updates and do not sell it.

To prevent automated signups, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile. Cloudflare receives technical information needed to perform the security check, which may include your IP address, browser or device information, and interaction signals. We also keep a one-way hash associated with recent signup attempts for up to one hour to limit repeated submissions.

Contact messages

Contact-form submissions are stored in a protected server-side text file and forwarded as an email notification so the message can be reviewed and answered. The storage file is outside public routes, and direct web access to the storage directory is denied.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate website usage, such as page visits, sessions, approximate geographic region, and browser or device information. Google Analytics may use first-party cookies, including cookies beginning with _ga, to distinguish browsers and sessions.

Our implementation does not load Google Analytics on search-result or saved-term pages, removes query strings from the page location reported to Analytics, and disables Google Signals and advertising-personalization signals in the page tag. We do not send names, email addresses, saved-term contents, or entered glossary search phrases to Google Analytics through this implementation.

Advertising and Google AdSense

Google AdSense is not currently active on this website, and DMG does not currently request Google-served ads. If AdSense is enabled later, selected content pages may display clearly labeled advertisements and this page will continue to describe the associated data practices.

Google and its partners may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies to deliver and measure ads, limit repeated ads, and detect fraud. Depending on your location, choices, and consent, they may also personalize advertising. Where required, a consent message may be shown before advertising technologies are used. You can learn more from Google’s advertising privacy information and manage Google advertising choices through My Ad Center.

Affiliate links and external providers

Some pages contain clearly disclosed affiliate links. These links include a referral identifier and direct you to an external provider such as Skool. The provider may receive your IP address, browser information, referring page, referral identifier, and subsequent activity under its own privacy practices.

DMG may receive referral or commission reporting from an affiliate program, such as confirmation that a qualifying purchase occurred. We do not operate the provider’s checkout or membership service. Review the external provider’s privacy policy and terms before submitting personal or payment information.

Hosting and third-party services

We may use service providers to host and deliver the website. Those providers may process limited technical data on our behalf as necessary to provide their services and maintain security.

Google provides the Analytics measurement service and processes usage information under its own terms and privacy practices. You can learn more from Google’s privacy policy and Google’s information for sites that use its services.

Cloudflare provides the Turnstile security check on the newsletter form and processes related technical information under its privacy policy.

The site may request typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser retrieves those files, Google may receive technical request information such as your IP address and browser details. Their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy terms.

Retention and disclosure

Newsletter email addresses are retained until you ask us to remove your subscription. Contact submissions and related correspondence are retained only as reasonably needed to respond, maintain editorial records, or meet legal obligations. Signup rate-limit records expire after approximately one hour. Server-log retention is determined by operational and hosting requirements.

We do not sell personal information. Information may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect the website or its users, investigate abuse, or complete a business transfer.

Your choices

You can browse without contacting us, clear locally saved terms and preferences through your browser, and configure your browser to limit storage or third-party requests. Some preferences may not work if local storage is disabled.

You can request removal of your newsletter email address by contacting us at the address below.

You can also use Google’s browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics measurement on participating websites.

This general-audience educational website is not intended to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so the matter can be reviewed.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the website changes. The date above identifies the latest version. Material changes should be reflected on this page before or when they take effect.
