Allowlist

deliverability concept

01 Definition

Allowlist meaning: A list of trusted senders whose email is allowed through filters without extra scrutiny.

An allowlist is a set of approved IP addresses, domains, or senders that a mailbox or organization trusts, letting their mail bypass some spam filtering. Recipients can add senders to a personal allowlist, and companies can maintain them at the server level. Being allowlisted helps delivery but does not override serious reputation problems everywhere.

Why it matters

How Allowlist fits the work

Encouraging subscribers to add you to their allowlist improves the odds your mail reaches the inbox, and it signals to providers that recipients want your messages.

In context

The welcome email asked new subscribers to add the sender to their allowlist so future receipts would not land in spam.

Practical note

A recipient's personal allowlist only affects their own inbox, not your reputation with the provider, so it helps individual delivery but is not a program-wide fix.
