White Space

design principle

01 Definition

White Space meaning: The empty space around and between elements that gives a layout room to breathe.

White space, also called negative space, is the intentionally empty area between and around content and interface elements. It is not wasted space; it groups related items, separates unrelated ones, improves readability, and draws attention to key elements. It can be any color, not just white.

Why it matters

How White Space fits the work

Generous spacing makes content easier to read and scan, reduces clutter, and can make a design feel more focused and premium without adding a single word.

In context

Adding padding around the pricing cards and more line spacing in the copy made the page feel calmer and easier to compare plans.

Practical note

Balance matters. Too little space feels cramped and hard to read, while too much can push key content below the fold or make relationships between items unclear.
