Unique Pageview

analytics metric

01 Definition

Unique Pageview meaning: A unique pageview counts a page only once per session, no matter how many reloads happen.

A unique pageview groups multiple views of the same page within one session into a single count. It reduces the inflation caused by reloads and repeat visits inside a session. This metric came from Universal Analytics; Google Analytics 4 does not report it directly.

Why it matters

How Unique Pageview fits the work

Unique pageviews give a cleaner read on how many distinct visits actually reached a page, filtering out repeated loads within the same session.

In context

A page had 5,000 pageviews but only 3,800 unique pageviews, showing that many sessions loaded the page more than once.

Practical note

Because Google Analytics 4 dropped this metric, do not expect to match old unique pageview totals; use views or sessions with a page filter instead.
