Audience Authenticity
01 Definition
Audience Authenticity meaning: How real and genuinely engaged a creator's followers are, versus fake or bought accounts.
Audience authenticity measures how much of a creator's following consists of real, active people rather than bots, bought followers, or inactive accounts. Marketers estimate it using engagement patterns, comment quality, and follower growth. No metric is perfect, so authenticity checks reduce but do not eliminate the risk of paying for a hollow audience.

Why it matters
How Audience Authenticity fits the work
Paying a creator only reaches real value if their followers are genuine people, so authenticity checks protect ad budgets from being wasted on fake audiences.
In context
An authenticity check flagged that only about 60 percent of one creator's followers looked genuine, so the brand chose a smaller creator with cleaner engagement.
Practical note
Authenticity scores are estimates. Sudden follower spikes, low or generic comments, and mismatched audience locations are warning signs, but no single tool proves an audience is real.
